SunFest is a 4 day music festival on the waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach. I’ve attending for the last 3 years and have picked up a few tricks to save money at SunFest. You can see the line up and buy tickets here.
Buy your tickets early.
..and buy the ticket pack for all 4 days. We like to purchase our tickets as soon as the line up is announced (which is today!). The ticket prices increase over time and are most expensive at the door. One day tickets purchased at the event cost almost as much as the 4-day tickets, when bought early.
Don’t park in the parking garages.
I’m probably going to regret sharing this tip with the world. The garages on Clematis Street and surrounding the event charge at least $20 for parking. Multiply that times the 4 days, and you’ll be spending more money on parking than on your actual concert tickets. Most locals have their favorite parking spots and its an unspoken rule that you don’t share it with anyone. We like to park a couple miles away in metered street parking spots. The parking is free after 7pm and all day on Sunday. And the farther away you park, the easier it will be to leave at the end of the night. And learn from my mistakes – wear comfortable shoes!
Download the SunFest app.
This might not help you save money at Sunfest on its own, but is really helpful. The app has the schedule and locations for each band. And you can create your own itinerary by selecting which bands you want to see.
Leave the venue to eat and drink.
During the week, we like to eat dinner quickly at home before heading down to SunFest. On the weekends, we like to get our money’s worth and spend almost the entire day at the event.
Now that you have your week mapped out (because you downloaded the app, as mentioned above), you can plan ahead of time when you’ll be taking your meal breaks. You can leave the venue to support some of the local businesses and then return to the event. Just make sure you get your hand stamped before you leave. And I recommend eating at ‘off’ times or during some of the more popular acts.
Some of the restaurants will sell drinks outside or you can go to Duffy’s for 2 for 1 specials.
Although, I would say its worth to stay at SunFest for to try something new. The pineapple chicken is delicious and very instagrammable.
