There are endless outdoor activities in Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Bike trails, kayaking, horseback riding, etc. For now our family will stick to baby-wearing hikes. We love spending time outdoors and want to take advantage of this beautiful Florida winter weather and explore our own ‘backyard’.
Entrance fee for the park is $6 per vehicle (currently only accepting credit card or exact change).
Jonathan Dickinson State Park is about a 20 minute drive from us. We were hoping the little guy would nap on the way there. (Spoiler alert – he didn’t).
Hobe Mountain
We drove in without a map or a plan. We pulled into the first stop to climb Hobe Mountain. You can see the intracoastal, Atlantic Ocean, and probably my father-in-law’s house.
It looked like there was once a walking trail across the parking lot but it was gated off. So we got back in the car and drove through the park. Which was a perfect opportunity for Aaron to fall asleep.
We parked by the visitors center and walked around the sidewalks with the stroller while Aaron napped. Definitely adding the kayaks and boat tours to our list for another time!
Once he woke up we had a little family snack break. There is a snack bar and beer garden but we brought our own snacks. We then put Aaron in the baby carrier and did a short hike. We followed along the Wilson Creek trail. But we turned around when we got to the water. There was no bridge and I didn’t want to fall while baby wearing.
This is a perfect spot for a family outdoor adventure. Especially during Florida winter when the weather is sunny and 75!
I plan to keep updating this post as we explore more of the park.
