It might be the first day of Fall but it’s still hot hot hot down here in South Florida. Even though it feels like summer, most stores (and Pinterest and Instagram feeds) are full on Fall. And we can sweat our tushies off at the local pumpkin patch and drink some iced PSL’s. But what do we do when we want to dress for Fall?
1. Wear Fall colors.
I’m not one to embrace browns or mustard yellow, but I can definitely appreciate an olive green this time of year. And this burgundy/wine color is for sure a favorite of mine for this time of year! I love to check out the Pantone seasonal color trend reports for inspiration.
2. Ankle booties or ballet flats.
Even though I absolutely love some friends preppy riding boots, they are less than necessary here. I love to switch them out with a low ankle bootie – my favorite is the Sam Edelman Petty boots. And when everyone is putting away their sandals, it’s the perfect time to wear your closed toe, classic ballet flats.
3. Sleeveless and lightweight layers.
Fall fashion is all about layers. And maybe you saw an amazing outfit with an army green jacket on Pinterest that you wanted to recreate. Switch out that jacket for a lightweight cardigan or vest.

Oh goodness so odd that I see this post after an evening of shopping. I’m moving to Atlanta and I am from NY it’s in the 40’s here at night so we do full blown fall – because we need it. It’s easy to stay dressed for the weather but I still want my dose of fall fashion. It actually just reminds me of when we lived in Sarasota – dressing was a pure joy. Tank or tee / thin top layer for air conditioning or chilly nights, great fitting bottom layers – fun flats , peep toes and wedges. It’s still fall y’all – just because it’s 85 degrees out side I refuse to not match the season. Great site ❤️
