We just had the perfect little last minute getaway to Miami Beach. We researched for a couple days and then booked our hotel the day of. I like to search on discount sites/apps like Hotel Tonight and then book directly through the hotel – they’ll almost always match the price.
There are so many hotels in Miami that it can be hard to pick one. There’s the pricey well known spots like the Eden Roc and Fountainbleau, but there are a bunch of really amazing boutique hotels that are just SO Miami.
We stayed at The Plymouth Hotel – their modern Art Deco vibe is serious decor goals. If you’ve ever been to a Restoration Hardware store, you probably wondered what it would be like to sleep there. Well, that’s what it’s like staying at this hotel.
The Plymouth Hotel is a block away from Collins Ave. Restaurants, bars, the beach, and shopping on Lincoln Road were all within walking distance.
We started our night out at Sweet Liberty – voted #27 of the world’s 50 best bars in 2017! I ordered a drink called Basic Bitch and I’m not even embarrassed to say it was delicious!
We walked around by all the bars and restaurants on Collins Ave and then walked through tons of tourists on Lincoln Road. Obviously had to make a quick stop at my favorite J.Crew Collection store.
The hosts at the restaurants on Lincoln Road are super pushy. When you stop to read a menu outside, they literally read it to you. It can be super overwhelming, especially if you’re not sure what to eat. So we ended up happily eating sushi.
The next morning for breakfast, Jon found Tasty Beach Cafe, about a mile from our hotel. Such a fun breakfast menu. Jon ordered the pumpkin babka French toast – never would’ve thought this food combination exists, but so happy it does!
After breakfast, we decided to walk back and I just love these old Miami houses. Each one is so different from the next and has so much personality.
Talk about Art Deco!
I just love the giant tree in front of this house.
Two doors in the front to nowhere?
And this entrance reminded me of Palm Beach – tall hedges for privacy. And I love the perfect arch cut out.
We spent the rest of the morning lounging by the pool. We were able to get a little bit of a later check out to take advantage of this gorgeous spot. They also have a hospitality suite and will hold your bags so you can still enjoy the pool or beach for longer.
We were in Miami for less than 24 hours, but it was such a nice refresh. I live for these little moments with just the two of us. I’m so happy we took the time to relax and explore someplace new. And we are just so lucky to live so close to another little paradise! (I still think we live in paradise).

Looks lovely there. We usually stay in Ft. Lauderdale, but I might have to rethink that now!
