Afternoon in Hilton Head

January 12, 2021

On our road trip to Myrtle Beach, we made fun stops each way to break up the drive. On the way up we spent a night in Savannah and on the way back we spent an afternoon in Hilton Head, SC. The drive from Myrtle Beach to Hilton Head is about 4 hours.

We left Myrtle Beach around 5am so when we got to Hilton Head, we started with breakfast at Island Bagel & Deli. They were highly recommended by a friend who has spent quite a bit of time in Hilton Head. And we were not disappointed. The bagels were delicious, and even though they were busy, they were efficient.

Harbour Town Pier

The rest of our visit was spent exploring Harbour Town.

Harbour Town is located within Sea Pines, a private gated residential community so there is a $9 fee per vehicle at the gate.

We walked around by the pier and climbed the light house. We took our time and read about their history on the way up. I absolutely love visiting lighthouses. The Jupiter lighthouse will always be my favorite (its our home town and where we got engaged). But I’d love to visit as many as I can.

The lighthouse overlooks the golf course – its such a pretty view from up top! And the gift shop is at the top of the lighthouse so I actually climbed it twice because I went back up to buy a shot glass for our collection from our travels.

Harbour Town never felt crowded and I loved the laid back vibes. I would love to go back and have more time to spend in Hilton Head. And I’m sure Jon would love to play that golf course next time.

We planned to eat at Java Burrito for lunch but unfortunately they’re closed on Sundays.

I still can’t believe this was the last place we’ve visited (July 2019). Anyone else miss traveling? For now I’ll just relive previous travels through my pictures.
