I can’t believe its been about 2 months since we closed and moved into our home. There’s still a lot to get done, but we’re getting there one step at a time.
We moved from a one bedroom apartment into a three bedroom house. And I really tried to wait til we moved to buy anything for our new house. The more we bought, the more we’d have to move. But as soon as we started to settle in, it quickly became obvious that we really needed some things. Thank goodness for Amazon Prime.
Tuft & Needle Mattress
We went to way too many mattress stores and I was still stressed about picking the right one. I was pretty intrigued by the mattresses that come in a box. And I loved that Tuft & Needle gives you 100 nights to test it out and if you hate it, you get your money back AND you get to pick which charity they donate your mattress to. Turns out we’re obsessed with how comfortable our new bed is! PS Amazon sells it for the same price as their own website, I just felt like I had more control over delivery with Amazon.
Also, because we want to keep our new beloved mattress clean & allergy free, we bought this mattress protector.
Black Velvet Hangers
Bigger closet means more room to actually hang up our clothes. Insert more matching hangers. About two years ago (when I moved in with Jon), I switched out all of my hangers to these matching black velvet ones. They’re thinner, which means more room for more clothes, and the velvet keeps your clothes from falling off – perfect for my favorite silky tanks.
Plus, I’ve been using these S-hooks to hang up Jon’s shorts.
Garage Shelving Unit
You have no idea how excited we are to have a garage. (Yay no more bicycle in the living room)! All this extra storage space is amazing and I really want to keep it all organized. And these shelves are for sure helping.
And because details matter, I just ordered these adorable light and fan pulls for our bedroom.
I can’t wait to keep sharing our homeowner journey with you. And once things are a little more done, expect to see some pictures!
And some things still on our wish list:
- We have an amazing Dyson that we love, but I can’t stop eyeing the Roomba.
- We want to get a grill and an outdoor couch for when it ever stops raining (please?).
- We still need and TV and we’re looking at the Amazon Fire Stick (or something similar) instead of getting cable.
