Kate Spade Mrs. necklace / Kendra Scott necklace (on sale)
What I Wore:
I tried so many white dresses for my bridal shower because I felt like I was supposed to wear white to every wedding event. I ended up wearing this gold lace gown that I rented from Rent The Runway. Even if it wasn’t white, it felt like the perfect boho dress for the flower theme. You can shop similar dresses here, here and here.
Decor:
Faux flowers (later used for our flower crown making) down the center as a table runner.
Dollar store flower vases used as pitchers with juices for our mimosa bar.
Dollar store frames used as signs (doesn’t my best friend have the best handwriting?)
We used these bridal shower game cards (some by the door for guests as they arrived and others as party games). I was happy to find ones that matched the flower theme.
Food:
This has nothing to do with the flower theme, but this party was a Sunday brunch. We had all the classics – bagels (and lox), muffins, etc. We also had a DIY parfait and waffle bar. I’m pretty sure everyone loves using the waffle maker at the breakfast buffet. We had waffle makers set up (waffles need to be fresh). And then a buffet with all the toppings!
And a party isn’t really a party without a Publix (ice cream) cake.
Activity: Flower Crowns
Its amazing how much everyone’s personalities really came out while making flower crowns. My not so artsy friend just stuck a flower in her hair, my over achiever aunt made 3, and a couple of my perfectionist high school friends found this super stressful. And can we talk about how my grandma just took a flower bunch, wrapped it as one piece around the wire and was done in about a minute.
What you need:
wire cutters (have more than you think you’ll need)
or you can buy this kit from amazon
Directions:
Measure the flower wire around your head and cut with the wire cutters. It helps to have the buddy system – measure each others’ heads and share wire cutters with. Make a circle and then twist the ends together. (Tip: cut the wire circles ahead of time. They don’t have to fit perfectly to each person’s individual head).
Cut the flowers with the wire cutters. Leave a little of the stem to attached it to the wire.
Place the flower onto the wire and wrap tightly with the flower tape.
Repeat. and repeat. and repeat.
Be creative. Mix colors, add greenery, and use different size flowers. Or use all of the same color, flower, etc. That’s the best part – make it how you want.
