Our family recently took our first trip to Nashville / Franklin, TN. Nashville is known for being the bachelorette capital of the world, but I promise this city is very kid friendly. We were super excited to spend time at the zoo with our one year old, Aaron and our 7 year old niece.
Once inside, you can download the map to your phone with this QR code. We decided to just go with the flow and see where the paths took us.
The zoo is a perfect place to take a one year old. Aaron loves to show off his animal sounds. You can see in the picture with him next to the tiger he’s saying “meow.”
We mostly kept Aaron in the stroller. The Nashville Zoo is very stroller friend and it was easy to get around. We did take him out for a few fun experiences and to hold him up to see some animals. (The Nashville Zoo does have strollers available to rent).
Animal Interactions
One of my favorite parts of the Nashville Zoo is how many interactive and close up animal experiences there are.
For the Kangaroos, you walk on a path and the kangaroos are just freely walking around you. The kangaroo pictures above are not zoomed in, we really were that close to them. They know (and the humans are told) if they’re on the path you can pet them but if they’re on the grass you can’t. There was one kangaroo laying in a spot for everyone to pet.
We also went inside a little petting zoo area. This space also has a few safe spaces for the goats to take a break that people aren’t allowed to enter. But as you can see they were very friendly. This guy gave my leg a kiss when I went to pet him.
Nashville Zoo Animals
There were so many animals to see – some I’ve never seen or heard of before!
The playground is under construction but I had to snap a pic and share because it looks like its going to be amazing. It looks massive and fun and would love to check it out on our next visit to Nashville.
And if you couldn’t tell from the picture of our sleeping toddler, our trip to the Nashville Zoo was a success!
You can purchase your tickets to the Nashville Zoo here. The price varies, depending on age and day of the week. Children under 2 are free!
Thank you to the Nashville Zoo for complimentary tickets for our visit. As always, all experiences and opinions shared in this post are my own.
